If you would like to see a larger image of the item you are inquiring about, please press “Select to Zoom” located below the product picture. This link increases the size of the image so you can get a clearer view of the item.
Quantity:
Once you know how many pieces you would like to purchase for the specific item you are inquiring about, you may enter the amount in the box beside the word Quantity located above the item description. Once that is completed, press the “Buy” tab which adds the item into your shopping cart.
Item description:
The item description includes information about the item such as size, colour, and shape. The item description is written in both English and French. The price of the item is located underneath the product image to the left of the written description.
Enter an item review:
The “Enter an Item Review” tab allows you to have the opportunity to share your experience about an item to other individuals. If you have previously purchased the product from CNIB we would like you to tell others about your experiences. When you press the “Enter an Item Review” tab, you are asked to enter an email address, a rating of the item from 1-5 (5 being the best), and any comments about the particular item.
List item reviews:
“List Item Reviews” allow you to see how others rated their experience with the item being reviewed. Included is a star rating from 1-5 (5 being the best), as well as any comments from item users.

“Customers Who Bought This Product Also Bought” informs you what other customers were interested in when they bought the particular item being viewed.
Creating and Managing Your Account
Creating an account:
In order to save an order and to check out, you must create an account with the CNIB Online Store. It’s quick and easy; all you have to do is click on the Register tab located on the top right hand corner of the Home page. We ask that you fill out your name, address, city, country, and postal code. There are three additional tabs that request your Login Name and a password that is used for future log in. This makes your web shopping experience easier and faster!
Signing into the webstore:
When signing into the web store, select “Log In” located at the top right hand side of the CNIB Web store home page. Enter your name and password created when establishing your account. If you have difficulties logging in, please pay attention to how it is capitalized. You must enter the exact same password as when you created the account.
Forgot password:
Underneath Login Name and Password there is a tab “Forgot Password?” Once you click on the tab, you are prompted to enter your email address. We will then send your password to the email address you provided.
Changing password and/or email address:
The first step is to sign into your account. To change your password, press the “Change Password” tab located at the top of the page. You will then be prompted to enter your current password and the new password you would like to use for future logins. Below, is also a section which allows you to enter a new email address. Once entered, press the submit button. After you sign out from you account, you may start using your new password.

Viewing order details:
Once you have signed into your account and you select the items you would like to purchase, there are two ways of viewing your order details. “Your Cart” is located at the top right hand side of the CNIB Online Store. There you will find a detailed list of the item(s) you ordered, quantity, price, and a subtotal. You can also review your order details in the “Review your Cart” section located in the middle of the screen after selecting an item to purchase. Similar to “Your Cart” you can also find detailed information on the items that you are planning to order. Included are the item number, description, quantity, unit, and price. To continue shopping all you have to do is click on the “Continue Shopping” link.
Ordering Products
Searching tips:
When searching for a specific item, you can enter key words into the search engine located at the top right hand corner of the Online Store. Just a few tips:
- The more keywords you use, the more specific your search will be.
- If your search does not produce any results, try to use fewer words.
- Try using singular versus plural words.
- Please avoid using symbols and words such as quotes (“.”), minus (-), plus (+), &, (‘), equal (=), “and”, “not”, and “or” as the search engine does not accept such search engine techniques.
Browsing the CNIB webstore site:
If you aren’t quite sure what you would like to purchase, you can find products by browsing the product categories that are listed on the left side of the CNIB Online home page. Just select the main category (e.g. Canes, General Lifestyle Aids) and the store will take you to the main product page and also display sub-categories for more specific product ranges. As you browse through the categories, you will also find images of each item related to your search. When you find a specific item that you may be interested in, click on the link below the product image to review the item details.

Finding the products you would like to order:
When you are ready to enter an order there are several ways to find the desired product:
Product Category: If you aren’t quite sure what you would like to purchase, you can find products by browsing the product categories that are listed on the left side of the CNIB Online home page. Just select the main category (e.g. Canes, General Lifestyle Aids) and the store will take you to the main product page and also display sub-categories for more specific product ranges.
Keyword: You can also find a product by entering key words into the search engine located at the top right hand corner of the Online Store. If you know exactly what you would like buy but do not have the product item number, search is the quickest way to find it. If you are looking for a talking watch for example, you can input “Talking Watch” in the search engine.
Quick Order: If the item SKU number is known, you can also click on the “Quick Order” tab located on the left hand side the Log In page and enter the item number in the space provided.
Adding item(s) to your shopping cart:
Buying a product from the CNIB Online Store is fast and easy. When you find the item you wish to purchase all you need to do is press the accompanied “Buy” button. If you would like to buy more than one unit, you can change the quantity from one to the desired value. Selecting “Buy” from the product detail page will add the item to your shopping cart. To continue shopping, select the “Continue Shopping” button located underneath your Cart Review.

For Jaws's user only - Instructions for Changing Quantity of an order in View Carts
Purchase a new product by inputting a Quantity for the product and pressing on Buy button. This action inserts everything you buy into a shopping cart.
To change the quantity, follow the view cart link. This page will list all the products you bought so far and will let you modify the quantity of each product.
The best way to change the product quantity is by bringing up all the form controls. Use the keyboard short cuts “ins+F5”, this will bring up all the form controls. In the list of form controls, select and press enter on “Quantity Edit Number”. This action will turn forms mode “ON” and put you right on the Quantity form control you want to edit.
Change the Quantity number in the form control edit field. After changing the number ,DO NOT HIT ENTER on the keyboard or you will lose the order information. Press TAB so the changes are updated for you properly.
After pressing TAB, the page will refresh to reflect the new changes in the order. Pressing Enter will force you to find and buy the product again.

Changing your order:
At any time while shopping, you can review the contents of the shopping cart by selecting the “View Cart” link located at the top of the page. The Shopping Cart shows each product on a separate line and includes the product number, brief description, quantity ordered, and price for each item. To delete an item from your cart, click the “Remove” button on the same line as the item you would like to remove. If you would like to empty the entire shopping cart, all you have to do is click on the “Remove All” button located at the bottom of the shopping cart page. When you are ready to process payment for the items selected, click on the “Checkout” button.

Checkout:
The Checkout process in the CNIB online store is fast and simple! Prior to checking out, take a moment to review your order to ensure all the items selected are accurate. After you select the “Checkout” button located on the Shopping Cart Page or from the “Your Cart” section that is displayed on the right side of every page, you are taken to the address information page.
Entering billing/shipping information:
On the address page, fill out the “Bill To” and “Ship To” address. If they are the same, simply press the “Same As Billing” tab located beside “Ship To.” If you have registered with the CNIB Online Store, your address will be filled automatically. If not, please take the time to the full out the required information-Name, Address, City, Country, Prov/State, Postal Code/Zip, and Phone Number. Once the information has been inputted, select “Next.” This will take you to the “Shipping Method” screen which shows you the total cost of the order, including costs for shipping and taxes.
CNIB value items:
The CNIB value items allows you to browse through items that are reduced in price. You can access the value items by selecting “CNIB Value Items!” located at the left hand side of the CNIB Online Web store homepage.
Entering Payment Information
Payment made by credit card:
After entering your shipping and billing address and pressing “Next” you are taken to the Payment Information screen. On the bottom of the screen, you will be asked to enter a credit card number and expiry date. We accept Visa, MasterCard, and American Express as a form of payment. CNIB validates the credit card information and returns an order confirmation that includes a “Payment Authorization” number. If you have an email address on file then a copy of this order confirmation will be sent to you electronically.

Credit card issues:
If the credit card information inputted is incorrect, the Online store will delete the incorrect card number and show the message “Not a valid card number” under the entry box. Please re-enter the credit card information making sure that every number is correct.
If there is a problem with the card, such as an incorrect expiry date, the Online Store will present a page “Transaction Failed” and provide the reason for the failure. If a transaction fails, you can return to the payment form and either correct the error or select a different method of payment for your order.
Credit card security:
At the CNIB we have put a number of security steps in place to give you confidence when purchasing your orders through the Internet. CNIB does not store credit card numbers anywhere in its systems. When you submit the credit card number for authorization, CNIB sends this information to a payment gateway via an encrypted communication. The payment gateway manages the pre-authorization of the credit card with the card issuer, usually a bank. The gateway returns a transaction number to CNIB, which is stored instead of the credit card number.
Payment by cheque or money order:
Selecting the “Pay by Cheque” option on the Payment Information page will change the payment form so that the only information needed to input is the Cheque number. Please enter the cheque number that you will be using to pay for the purchase. If this information is not known, you can leave it blank. Please note that the order will not be completed and shipped until payment has been received.

Tax exemption:
There is nowhere on the CNIB Online store to mark if your order is tax exempt. If you do qualify for tax exemption please contact one of our customer service representative at

On account payment:
CNIB allows some customers such as school boards to pay on account. This must be established with CNIB in advance. Please contact one of our customer service representatives at 1-866-659-1843 for further assistance. Once an account is set up, a payment method called “Bill My Account” will appear on the Payment Information screen. Selecting “Bill My Account” will change the payment form to show only a “Purchase Order Number” field. If you have a purchase order number, please enter the number in the space provided.

US shipping:
Items being shipped to the United State are sent through FedEx Ground. The delivery cost for United States orders is $30.00.
Delivery information:
CNIB works hard to process all orders within 24 hours if the items are available. Depending on the item(s) purchased it may take up to 2-5 business days for processing. The items will be delivered via FedEx Ground or Canada Post Express. During the holiday seasons please allow additional time as there is an increase of orders that are placed. Terms of Sale
General return policy:
Most products may be returned to CNIB for credit, refund or replacement for up to 30 days from the date of the original sale, with the original Bill of Sale. Returned items must be in the original condition, contain all parts and attachments, and packaging and must also include user document. When the item is received, you will be issued a refund less the shipping and handling charges.
Non-refundable items:
Sales of all products that come into direct contact with the body, such as thermometers, are final. No refund or exchange will be given.
Item warranty:
Watch batteries are warranted for 30 days from the date of sale. If a product is modified in any way, doing so will void the warranty. Most manufacturers offer a limited warranty for their products. Please ask for details by contacting a customer service representative at 1-866-659-1843.
